Smoky Hill Metropolitan District Projects And Work Completed Or In Progress In 2022
- Pool replastered and tile repaired
- Pool leak found and fixed
- Pool planter demolished to make way for shade shelter
- Pool kiddie pool fence removed and updated (scheduled for November)
- Pool diving boards replaced and diving board stands updated
- Pool emergency exits brought up to fire code and secured
- Added 4 late closings at the pool so pool guests could enjoy later hours
- New and improved pool ID card system in place
- Emergency Grant secured to provide funds to hire/retain lifeguards
- Big Sandy Park amenities completed: fitness stations, shade shelter & tables, cornhole game, concrete chess table & chairs
- Grant secured for Crestline Park court upgrade to include multi-use court. Work set to begin in November-January timeframe.
- Ten new Trees planted at Goldrush Park,, including 5 as Eagle Scout Project and 5 new shade trees.
- Test plots planted at Goldrush Park to study park soil conditions and implement turf rehabilitation
- Clubhouse parking lot resurfaced and re-striped
- Retaining wall added between pool and courts at clubhouse to prevent erosion damage to pool deck
- Clubhouse concrete steps replaced and handrails added to meet ADA compliance guidelines
- Additional security camera added to clubhouse/pool area
- Clubhouse refrigerator repaired
- Park irrigation pump repairs completed for all parks
- Tree survey completed by licensed arborist; recommendations made for trimming, removal and replacement
- Tower Road weed control project approved for November 2022
- Park entrance fencing replaced and updated
- Snow removal contract for Smoky Hill (Clubhouse) Park, Crestline and Big Sandy Park walkways, clubhouse parking lot and Telluride Street sidewalks approved and awarded.
- Big Rock Park backstop project approved to move it for better placement and to make that playing field safer and suitable for use
- Big Sandy Park fencing project approved to provide a fence along Smoky Hill Road for safety and sound abatement
- All parks now have assigned addresses to enable emergency responders to find the parks if needed
