Grants

Smoky Hill Metro District (SHMD) has applied for 3 grants in 2021.

2 Grants were sent to Arapahoe County for the following 2 parks

  • Arrowhead Park, for a concrete paved walkway around the interior of the park for the use of residences and visitors to the park. Along with 4 covered benches.
  • Big Sandy Park for 5 stationary exercise locations for everyone to use.

The results are in from Arapahoe County!

Unfortunately the request for Arrowhead Park improvements did not make the cut.

On a positive note, Big Sandy Park improvements did make the cut and we were granted $94,351.00 for a small shade shelter, a concrete game table and 5 ADA-approved fitness stations and a concrete corn hole game (you need to supply your own beanbags)

The other grant was to the City Of Centennial for 2 Pickleball Courts along with the replacement and expansion of the concrete pad for the basketball courts In Crestline Park.

The City of Centennial Grant was approved.  This is the grant that Tom Mehl wrote and the grant of  $150.000.00.  was awarded to Smoky Hill Metro District!  This grant will be used to install 2 new Pickle Ball Courts, and refinish the existing basketball courts that are currently there.  This grant will also include new fencing around the pickle ball courts, and replacement of part of the walking path around the park.

Please be thinking of other items that you think will help improve our community for the next round of Grant applications.
