Website Accessibility

Website Accessibility Policy

The Smoky Hill Metropolitan District (the “District”) is fully committed making our services broadly accessible, including ensuring digital accessibility to all users regardless of ability. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

We aim to adhere as closely as possible to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0), published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make Web content more accessible for people with disabilities.

Our accessibility tests on the site’s pages include (but are not limited to) testing for the following: correct heading structure, good keyboard operability, sufficient color contrast, and screen reader support. We are aware of some areas on the website where we could improve accessibility. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility.

If you need any special assistance or accommodations, please contact our accessibility officer or call us at 303-662-1999 x-1.

Ongoing Compliance Information

Compliance Officer

The District has designated it’s District Manager as it’s compliance officer for website disability-related accommodations. The compliance officer has received training in website accessibility and ensure that updates are made to the site in accordance with those best practices.  Please contact our accessibility officer to report an issue.

Compliance Procedures and Reports

In addition to statutory revisions, the District regularly scans its website to ensure ongoing compliance, and makes timely changes to any inaccessible content, if any are found.

Linked Documents and Third Parties

Please note that this site may link out to third-party websites, such as state or federal agencies, that do not have accessible content. This site may also include documents provided by third parties included in our agenda packets, for example. While we cannot control the accessibility of content provided by third parties, we are happy to assist any member of the public with reading and accessing content on our site.
